I start my next book in earnest this week. The working title is “Furniture Business.” Just as with “Backwoods Chairmakers,” I’ll work with publisher Lost Art Press on this one.
The focus is on the business side of a life in furniture. I’ll interview 30-40 makers from all sides of the furniture field. Early career and retired. Individual makers and family businesses. Artists and academics. Wood carvers and restorers. Hopefully an influencer or two. Along with a few people who have left the field altogether. And, if I can find them, the leading RiverTable maker in the country.
As this project comes together, it will provide a “behind-the-curtain” look at the business side of small-scale furniture making. The book will share insights, results, and facts & figures for anyone considering a furniture career and for those who enjoy learning from the earned business wisdom of others.
