First the bark source:

  • Tom Zenas (contact: tpzenas@sbcglobal.net)

  • Bark: 3/4” +/- wide dry. $1.40/lf

Tom harvested a first run from his Michigan shop. I purchased some and put in into the two stools (more images below). It’s as good as anything I’ve ordered. I had no need to prep it for varying width or thickness and I’ll purchase more for future work.

I believe Tom mentioned that he has about 5000’ worth. Reach out to him if interested.

Obviously, this is not sponsored content. I’m happy (to pay for) another quality source for bark.

The long-running television show Chronicle stopped by the shop in April to shoot for their program on our Waldoboro community. I was preparing to glue up the stick chair (also shown below). I did not glue up on air…though that could have added a little excitement, and possibly the full range of human emotions.

The different segments from the show are all up on YouTube. Give them a look…especially if you’re planning to take a class here at the shop.

(note: In the video, I’m working on a shave horse off plans from George Sawyer’s shop.)

My part:
